In Memory of: "Tender Reed" 1980 - 2002
Reed was humanely put down in early November, due to the advances of
old age. Tender Reed was a Reg. Tb, Stakes producing
mare by the Stallion 'To The Quick' (Raise A Native/Princequillo), out
of 'Tenfore' (Bupers/Hail To Reason). She was bred in Kentucky, and
raced at Belmont, The Meadowlands, and Aqueduct Racetracks.
She was owned by Oak Hill Farm from late 1992 through to 2002, and was
the last of the farms' 6 foundation Thoroughbred mares. She was a
quality mare, big, attractive and athletic, with a lovely temperment.
She produced 3 big, talented Warmblood sons: 1994 "Torenado" aka
Stiltz, (18hh), (by Schoenfeld), who is showing in the Amateur
jumper ranks, (photo above), (now owned by Rick Maynard of Vancouver,
B.C.) 1996 "Taliesin" (17+hh), (by Hennessey), who was purchased as a
talented Dressage prospect. (photo is at 3 days old)
1998 "Cozumel" (by Cabellero), who was purchased as a jumper prospect.
(photo is at 5 months).
She was a 'Grand Lady', and will be sorely missed by her pasture-mates
and by Ferne.
